Biometric attendance is back again post Diwali as Covid 19 cases continue to decline in the Capital.
The Central Government on Monday ordered the resumption of Biometric attendance for all levels of its employees post the Diwali week. From November 8th it’s back to Biometrics for all Central government employees.
Since the spread of Covid 19 last year, Biometric attendance was discontinued at all Central government offices as a precautionary measure against the spread of Covid 19. Instead of pressing one’s finger against the scanner of a biometric machine, attendance was being maintained manually in registers or logs.
The department of Personnel and Training reviewed the matter on Monday and issued a statement stating that “It has been decided to resume biometric attendance for all levels of employees” with effect from next Monday i.e. 8th November. In addition it stated that the heads of all departments would be responsible for ensuring that sainitiser is available near all biometric machines and that employees sanitise their hands before and after marking of attendance. In addition physical distance of at least 6 feet must be maintained at all times while marking attendance and if required, additional biometric attendance machines may be installed to avoid overcrowding and queues resulting in delay.
It is mandatory to wear masks at all times including while waiting in line to mark attendance and additional personnel should be deployed at biometric machines to frequently wipe and clean scanners as a precautionary measure.
Additional biometric scanners should be placed outdoors or in indoor areas with proper ventilation, stated a spokesperson for the DoPT. It also mentioned that Department and other meetings should continue to take place online by way of videoconferencing to avoid crowding and personal meetings with visitors unless in public interest should be avoided at all cost.
